Group photo: Equity-arranged tour of The Park, Feb 2012
Wearing our hard hats and hi-vis jackets, members of the South and South-East Equity branch were given a tour of the truly inspiring new build that will be The Park Theatre in Finsbury Park. I didn't know this photo was taken - great shot of my wellies in the snow!
Group photo: Radio Writing workshop, 2012
Workshop with Peter L. Wild (radio director and producer) and Peter Nash (sound editor). I joined the group on Day 2 to read and record sections of the resulting new writing.

Theatre. A poignant piece about two friends who have known each other since schooldays. 'Autumn Leaves' opened the CPTP New Writing season at Barons Court Theatre, as part of a double-bill of plays by Michael Sands.
Dress-rehearsal shot: Josephine von Klibbentrop, 'Ways and Means', 2011
Theatre. Newly written comedy, set in 1947, spoofing upper class England and Germany. Josephine is an unexpected visitor, and not a nice character. This was one of 3 plays comprising Le Nouveau Guignol theatre company's 2nd production at The Old Red Lion Theatre, Islington.

Rehearsed readings, 2009-2011
Rehearsed readings, 2009-2011
I am regularly cast in rehearsed readings by groups such as Artists Anonymous ('Page-to-Stage' events - new writing assessed by industry panel and audience) and AWL (members group of actors and writers - readings of new writing, plus competition and showcase evenings).
Backstage shot: Mme de Merliot. 'Tics: Or Doing the Deed', 2010
Theatre. Farce, written in 1908 - newly performed at The Old Red Lion Theatre, Islington, as one of 3 plays forming the debut production of Le Nouveau Guignol theatre company. The six-strong cast of 'Tics' all seem to have one thing on their minds, and a bourgeois comedy of manners ensues. Great writing, great fun.

Split lip make-up reference shot: Lisa Goodman, 'Enough', 2010
Serious film for the Royal Mail about bullying in the workplace, taking examples to the extreme conclusion when colleagues turn a blind eye. I played Lisa, who is trying to get on with her job while being harrassed by the 'bully boy' in the team. The cut lip make-up was done by Kit Hall.
Rehearsal shot: v/o for 'Werewolf in London', 2010
A day with ENO Baylis + Punchdrunk Theatre rehearsing and performing a new soundtrack to this 1935 b/w film. I voiced Lady Forsyth (upper class) and Mrs Whack (London).

Publicity shot: Vi, 'The Memory of Water', 2010
Theatre. Great tragi-comic script, requiring tight ensemble playing. Vi appears in flashback scenes set in the 1970s - in the present tense it is the eve of her funeral. Uncompromising in her strict belief in 'doing the right thing', Vi has had a profound effect - not necessarily positive - on the lives of her 3 daughters.
Lady Agatha Trebussy, 'The Bellingworth Curse', 2010
Murder-mystery w/end - paying players worked with actors to unravel the plot. Hugely improvisational; lots of background research needed. I played a 1920s socialite whose hobbies included solo flying. (The first person to fly solo from the UK to Japan was a woman in the 1920s. Amazing era.)

Angela, 'Wave of Life', 2009
Angela, 'Wave of Life', 2009
Film. Produced by ZooMoo Entertainment,
'Wave Of Life' is a 6 episode mockumentary. Angela is a publishing agent who does not suffer fools gladly - but she has a past that might just be catching up with her. Scenes were improvised, and very funny to be a part of.
Behind the scenes shot: Florence Taylor, film for teaching English in Italian schools, 2009
Florence Taylor is a middle-class mum who used to be a hippie - at one points she digs out her old sitar. Fun storyline to teach English to Italian teenagers, filmed by EFS Television Production Ltd for Zanichelli Editore SpA.

Jenny, 'Lilac Time', 2009
Jenny, 'Lilac Time', 2009
Film. Jenny has some news for her boyfriend. She decides to send him a message via webcam. Specially commissioned piece for work with Shooting Match Ltd.
Still: Kate, 'UTU', 2009
TV pilot. Kate is Editor-in-Chief - sassy and straight-talking. 3 pilot episodes of 'UTU' were shot for BBC World TV. Set in a buzzing media centre, reporting on major issues around the world, UTU is a rapidly expanding internet news/blog/online video operation.

Dress-rehearsal shot: Lady Markby, 'An Ideal Husband', 2009
Dress-rehearsal shot: Lady Markby, 'An Ideal Husband', 2009
Theatre. Darker than Oscar Wilde's other plays, political corruption is at the centre of 'An Ideal Husband'. Lady Marby appears to breeze over the darker elements, but I played her with just a hint of knowing exactly what is going on. She has some wonderful monologues.
Still: Margaret, 'The Secrets of CEOs', 2008
Film. Comedy viral to advertise book of the same name. Margaret is the wife of a workaholic CEO. Increasingly desperate measures to get his attention result in her seducing him dressed as a pie-chart.
Still: Margaret, 'The Secrets of CEOs', 2008
Still: Lady Constance, 'Suffrage', 2008
Still: Lady Constance, 'Suffrage', 2008
Dramatic film short about Lady Constance Lytton, a suffragette who underwent forcefeeding in protest against the cruel treatment of working-class suffragettes. The role was a mix of voiceover and performance of key scenes in her life.
Still: Mum, 'The Inner and Outer', 2008
Art film about family life. Shot with parents moving at normal speed, kids at half speed. Final film is speeded up so that parents look as if they are zipping about the house, with the kids moving at normal speed. Hard to capture in a still!
Still: Mum, 'The Inner and Outer', 2008

Still: voiceover, 'Who Am I?' 2008
I did the voiceover for this short film about domestic energy consumption. The v/o is businesslike RP. The still shown here is a graphic of a map of Britain, with photos of typical energy use in the home.
MP, music video, 'I Don't Need This', 2007
I played a battleaxe MP (think Ann Widdecombe!). Political song by Maxwell D. Shot on location in south London.

Backstage shot: Betty, 'And Did Those Feet...', 2006
Backstage shot: Betty, 'And Did Those Feet...', 2006
Theatre. Play about William Blake, set against backdrop of Napoleonic Wars. Betty is the maid of one of Blake's patrons, Lady H. (Lady H. on the left, Betty on the right). There is something rather sinister and disturbing about Betty.
Still: Melanie, 'Breathing In', 2006
Film. A short comedy about an overweight male looking for love. Melanie is a mid-30s chain-smoking divorcee - and a nightmare date. She thinks she's hot stuff wearing a bindi and talking about tantric sex.
Still: Melanie, 'Breathing In', 2006
Publicity shot: Mother, 'Blood Wedding', 2005
Publicity shot: Mother, 'Blood Wedding', 2005
Production of this classic Lorca play was sparse, intense and physical, using the claustrophobic cellar space of Baron's Court Theatre. Mother is bitter about what has happened in her life, and yet fiercely resistent to change. I played her in her 40s (she has a son in his 20s) but mentally much older due to her refusal to adapt to modern life.
Rehearsal shot: Barbara, 'The Empty Chair', 2005
One-act play about psychotherapy. Taken to Edinburgh Festival; cast interviewed on BBC Scotland and in local press. Barbara owns a haridressing salon. Her staff have no idea she is a virgin and in therapy. An emotional role, that needed to be played sympathetically.

Edwardian photo shoot
Edwardian photo shoot
Taken as part of a shoot for an article in the Daily Mail, looking at past inhabitants of famous people's houses. This was shot in the garden of Paul Nicholas' house. I played Francis Mary Foreshaw, who was living there in 1901 (pictured here with actor playing her brother).
1950s Coronation shoot
The photographer for the Edwardian photo shoot, described above, asked me to do this one for him too - showing a typical nuclear family at the time of the Queen's Coronation.
